  3.       Welcome to The Walnut Creek CDROM Visions VII:PEOPLE CDROM!

  6. This CDROM contains 75 stock photographs and images in 4 different
  7. image formats.  The images can be used without royalties, but may not
  8. be used on another image CDROM without adding value to the image
  9. such as using them in a multi-media presentation.

  11. The images are in the following image formats and sizes:

  43. Quick Start Instructions:
  44.  
  45.  MSDOS Quick Start:
  46.     Change to your CDROM drive and type "view".
  47.     Example: 
  48.           C:\> D: 
  49.           D:\> view
  50.  
  51.   Windows 95:
  52.     Insert the cdrom into the cdrom drive.  This will automatically
  53.     open the CDROM program window.  Double click "setup" from the
  54.     program to install the Visions VII program group and icon.
  55.     Alternatively, you can also install the program group and icon
  56.     by selecting the "Start" menu and choosing "Run".  At the Run
  57.     box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.

  59.   Windows 3.1:
  60.     Go to "File" menu under program manager and choose Run.  At the
  61.     Run box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.
  62.     This will install a group folder with icons for this cdrom.

  64.  Windows NT:
  65.     Go to "File" menu under program manager and choose Run.  At the
  66.     Command Line box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.
  67.     This will install a group folder with icons for this cdrom.

  69. Note: You will not be able to view any of the .TIF and .PCT image 
  70.       files with the Windows winview program.  We suggest viewing 
  71.       the .JPG and the .BMP versions of these images instead.

  74. Using the 00_INDEX.HTM:
  75. We have included 00_index.htm files so the user may use a Web browser
  76. to view our disc.

  78. In order to view this disc using these 00_index.htm files, point your
  79. Web browser to the root level 00_index.htm file.

  81. For example, in Netscape/Mosaic:

  83.         1) Choose File/Open File (or File/Open Local File with Mosaic)
  84.         2) Choose your CDROM Drive under "Drives"
  85.         3) Select the 00_index.htm file
  86.         4) Click on OK

  88. The 00_index.htm files have been tested under Netscape 1.1 (Windows,
  89. Macintosh, and FreeBSD), Netscape 1.22 (Windows), Netscape 2.0b2,
  90. Mosaic 2.00 (Final Beta), and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

  97. The files and applications on this cdrom are sorted by category.
  98. To access the files or applications just double-click on the item you
  99. are interested in.  If the files are compress or binhexed, you have
  100. to uncompress or unbinhex them before using.  There are utilities on this
  101. CDROM specifically for this task. They are in the 'MacUtils' Folder.

  103. Note: some folders include a readme document.  We advise that you
  104. read the readme document before opening any files or applications.

  108. Advanced image viewing using Powerview (the default image viewer.)
  109.  
  110. For an amazing "psychedelic" effect when viewing pictures under MSDOS:
  111.  
  112.    1) Be sure the disc is using its default viewer (Powerview).  If it
  113.       isn't, use the INSTALL.EXE program to switch to Powerview.
  114.  
  115.    2) Start up the VIEW program.
  116.  
  117.    3) Choose a directory that contains images.
  118.  
  119.    4) Choose an image.
  120.  
  121.    5) When the image is on your screen, press the "A" key.
  122.  
  123. Try some of the following keys:

  125. G ...................... Color-kill on\off (or greyscale)
  126.  
  127. I ...................... Inversion on\off
  128.  
  129. A ...................... Cycle palette on\off (press ESC, a mouse  button,  or
  130.                          "A" to stop cycling)

  132. C ...................... Component swap  (cycles  through  all combinations of
  133.                          the RGB components: RGB, RBG, BGR, etc.)
